2001 Château Langoa Barton

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, showing little maturity. Blackcurrants and toasted coconut on the nose, damp tobacco just starting to show. Medium-bodied, restrained fruit with a slightly harsh tannic backbone. Pleasant and lightly floral flavours on the palate, good complexity and development. Long and lovely aftertaste, deep cherry and a bitter chocolate core. Very tasty claret. 88/100. Drunk 18 June 2011 after 5 hours decanting.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
