Re: 1985 Dow
Much richer red colour compared to the Niepoort 1987; it held it colour to the edge of the rim much better. Lots of eucalyptus and spearmint on the nose. Some soft red fruit in the mouth. Initially very dry but with a slightly sticky aftertaste. Attractive light Port.

Medium colour, with a light fruity smell (which seemed to disappear later, unless our noses had been overwhelmed by others by that point). On tasting, medium dry, slightly spirity, light in flavour with no woody tones. Similar to F83 but lighter - a very nice port, though I prefer something with a fuller more powerful flavour.

Mid-red in colour, 55% opaque. Attractive on the nose, showing some spicy eucalyptus over candied figs; grows to a considerable volume in the glass. Slightly hollow on entry, initially lacking in fruit but this slowly changes on the palate until a sweet redcurrant and fruity acidity dominate. Acid burns briefly on the aftertaste, before a long and sweet finish of good length with soft tannins takes over. Showing very well. Guessed by others to be BBR83 (SW83), QH85, T83. 89/100.
