1999 Niepoort Secundum vintage port
Deep red colour, opaque. Attractive nose of strawberry jam and fresh mint. Soft, sweet entry with soft tannins on the sides of the tongue and a cleansing herbaceousness comes through with some air. Hot on the aftertaste with a sour / bitter finish that is a bit unattractive. 85/100. Drunk 13 October 2011.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Re: 1999 Niepoort Secundum vintage port
Thanks for posting, Alex. Since I did not plan my son accordingly and he dropped out a year early (i.e. 99) I am in need of some 99s. Despite my single bottle of Nacional, some Vesuvio and Terra Freita I do own a Mg. of Secundum as well, but never tasted this.
