2001 Quinta de Vargellas vintage port
Light red colour, 80% opaque. Closed on the nose. Attractive entry, balanced mix of ripe fruit and tannins that are starting to soften but show a great spiciness. There is a lovely fruit persistence on the long finish. This is still quite young, but starting to drink quite well. 88/100. Tasted at the BFT on 24 April 2013.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
