2011 Burmester

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red with a purple rim. Open on the nose, but still quite tanky with not much more complexity than pure grape juice. Fruity and attractive on the palate at first, but a bitter sappy tone comes through in the mid-palate. The tannins are light and gentle. The bitterness and late acidity also flow through on to the aftertaste and persistent finish. 85-87. Snapshot tasting on 24 April at the BFT4.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
