2011 Calem

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Sweet brambles and sharp blackcurrants on the nose and a lovely mineral edge. Dense and sweet fruit and a big tannic core; air releases a lovely perfume. Good dry finish. An elegant wine; an early maturer. 88-90. Drunk over 1-4 days as part of the 2011 extended tasting.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
