BBR Port Walk
BBR's annual port walk is scheduled for Thursday 28th November. I managed to get a ticket for it this year! Is anyone else on TPF planning to attend?
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I'll be going.
It's ticket only, available from http://www.bbr.com/products-20091-the-p ... g-28-11-13
Looks like it's sold out already though.

Does anyone want to eat afterwards? Who is going? Should we book anywhere (nearer the time perhaps)?

I naturally assumed that we would be having an offline at The Bunghole afterwards.

What will be the theme? Should we invite an industry guest who we suspect might be in the country?

No. Just ‟What”, without the punctuation. So it can be a question or an exclamation.DRT wrote:"What?" is our theme.

If we leave BBR at 8.30, shall we allow 15 mins for the Piccadilly Line and 10 for walking and round it up to 9pm? Will TBH still be delighted to see us at this time? Should we think of somewhere nearer to Piccadilly?
Can anyone get us into their club..?
What..?

There are special tube trains with orange lights on the front that can get from St James's to High Holborn in 15 minutes.
Phone TBH and ask what "too late" means to them in the context of half a dozen blokes spending £40 each.

IIRC the kitchen closes at 9:45. We may find we get more flexibility if we agree to pre-order so the kitchen has our food out and prepared and just has to cook when we arrive.

Is this a reference to the industry guest? Are we to identify him from this description?jdaw1 wrote:Caesar, large, with extra-high-fat sauce, both with and without the faint hyphen. Please.AHB wrote:if we agree to pre-order

Re: BBR Port Walk
The pre-Christmas rush has conspired to prevent my (and my guests') attendance, and i think WS1 is therefore also pulling out from tomorrow.
Accordingly I have up to 4 tickets available for last-minute takers (first come first serve, send email rather than pm!) - they will go back as returns to BBR tomorrow morning....

That is a shame. Do come along to TBH and join us for some post-BBR port if you get the chance for a shorter break later on; I guess we'll be there from around 9pm.RAYC wrote:The pre-Christmas rush has conspired to prevent my (and my guests') attendance, and i think WS1 is therefore also pulling out from tomorrow.

Not at all - will let BBR know. There may now be a chink of light for me (though my guests are still out).Cookie wrote:Am I too late to snaffle one of those tickets?

I'll be seeing folks at BBR rather than meeting before, not sure about others. BBR starts at 6:30pm, and several of us going on to TBH for food and more port afterwards.Cookie wrote:Fantastic...what time is everyone meeting up?

Thanks Phil...I have shown my interest to join you all at TBH...just waiting on confirmation.PhilW wrote:I'll be seeing folks at BBR rather than meeting before, not sure about others. You are being added to the placemats which is as near a ‟confirmation” as you are going to get.Cookie wrote:I have shown my interest to join you all at TBH...just waiting on confirmation.
