2011 Feuerheerd

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

So after stating categorically that there was no Feuerheerd in the 2011 vintage (based on what I was told by the owner), I was then sent a bottle for review!

Another of the ports from this vintage with the odd blue-cheese note - could this have come from the spirit used by some producers? Medium bodied with powerful green tannins that dominate the palate as if you had bitten into grape pips. Some balance on the late palate and aftertaste that is still dominated by the tannins. 88-90.
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
