1970 Sandeman

Bottled by Avery. Red-brown appearance, mature looking; 30% opaque. Sweet syrup on the nose, with a gentle complexity of spice and sweet fruit. Perfectly balanced entry, mature and mouthfilling fruit with a lovely balance and a very fine elegance but with a delightful All Spice twist over the fruit. A wonderful aftertaste that is fruity and sweet. The balance on the palate continues through the delicious finish. A really lovely port. 93/100. Drunk 23-Apr-14.
Top 2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

2026: Quinta das Carvalhas 80YO Tawny
