1969 Chateau Barbier

On Thursday 19^th December 2013 a subset of the obvious suspects gathered at The Bell in Wendens Ambo to taste old, peculiar and unknown bottles.

Deep gold colour, with a slight green hint on the rim. Big on the nose, with lovely honeyed apricots and caramelized oranges. Empty on entry, oddly hollow, just some vague flavours of super-ripe mandarin oranges. Very pleasant lengthy finish showing pleasant orange length. Nice, but definitely saved by the finish. 87/100.

I noted only soft sweetness, but recall it to be lovely, though lighter than really good.
