1985 Fonseca

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Available by the glass from a local bar. Deep red but not youthful, 90% opaque. Subdued nose, only some very faint cherry liquer. Sweet and gentle entry, with the fruit coming through on the second wave. A third wave appears bringing a gently peppery and spicy twist to the growing sweet fruit. Slighty pruny aftertaste, lots of enjoyable fruit then a huge dose of chilli and heat. This subsides very slowly to reveal a dry cherry and black chocolate finish of very impressive concentration and a duration lasting over three minutes! Great stuff. 92/100. Dunk 10-Oct-14.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Was it local in London or local in Wokingham?
