As is mine, so I got four. Derek, I did it for you. The 2003 Vau and the Bollinger I bought for myself and I'm feeling rather pleased with self. Thanks Tom.

Managed to pick up one of the T85s yesterday also at £40 when passing another Tesco. Noticed they also had the Graham's Crusted at £12 instead of £18, but that it was the 2006 rather than the (recently stocked) 1998.

Would suggest that they've also run out out of the 2002 which they were stocking subsequent to the 1998.

Having picked up a couple of dozen of the Sandeman 2003 Vau Vintage from Tesco thought my port buying was done for the month. Today a friend offered me some bottles found when an elderly relative moved into a home. they are 2 bottles Dow's 1955, 1 bottle Croft 1963, 1 bottle Dow's reserve "matured in wood and bottled in 1973"(LBV?), 1 bottle Taylor's select port(gone to kitchen cupboard and also a bottle of 1962 Chateau Certan Pomerol.

Definitely a story worth telling!
The bottle plus invoice and bin label was bought last Saturday at Tennants - on a rather large detour on a trip to go walking in Wales.

It's now sitting next to me in a hotel room in Newport - Pembrokeshire..

The invoice is quite faded but otherwise in good condition, however it may not scan well and has the pipe's duty 'ticket' attached - which I don't want to fold back in the scanner to show the text underneath for fear of damaging it.

When I get back I will get some help from my mother - who is much better at reading old copperplate handwriting than I am - and prepare a full transcript..

I bought this from N&P some time ago at the pre-sale price, which i thought was attractive at the time. Having since tasted it, i am very happy with the price paid and I think yours was a real bargain. Exceptionally good value for money.

Thank you both for the tip - I have bought a case, it seems very reasonable and I suspect they have a fair depth of stock as they still listed the 12 bottle case as available post purchase... :-)

2 magnums of 2005 Fonseca Guimaraens VP.
I've been looking for a long time to find a (any) 2005 VP, as it's my oldest son's birthyear. So one of these will go to him, the other will maybe be opened at an apropiate time by me :mrgreen:
When I got them home today, they stated on the labels that these magnums were numbers 3 respectively 11 of 12 mags in total bottled especially for The Netherlands. Gives it something extra special in my book! :D

It turned out a nice Sunday afternoon for following the auction online! :mrgreen:

6 x Fonseca Quinta do Panascal 1986 (at auction last Sunday). I didn't know this was made (I know of the 1986 Guimaraens).

Also the label is somewhat of a mystery to me (I'll try to post a couple of pictures). Does anyone know these kind of labels from Fonseca? And since I don't have a clou when these came onto the market, any thoughts on number of years left in this VP.

Thanks!! So it is on the market at least ten years then.
I'm sure I can be persuaded (should my arm be twisted 88) to open up one once in a while the coming years :wink: :wink:

Having just drunk and enjoyed a bottle of 1980 Warre (note here) I happened to notice a half case for £150 in bond at Berrys. I almost wonder if it was a mistake, so overpriced are most listings on BBX. However I do not feel I can cavil at £25/bottle for a 36 year old port. Alright I know l shall have to pay duty and VAT on it eventually, but still...serendipity.

That's a bargain for sure! Very fine port. I hope the condition is OK but BBX and IB should go a very long way towards guaranteeing that. Congratulations.

- Quarles Harris 1977 VP (6x, shared a case of 12 with my uncle)

- Quinta do Noval 1973 LBV bottled 1979 (2x, finally a bottle of port (or any wine for that matter) from my birthyear ). Hope that it will be still drinkable.

- Tait's 1937 old port (1x, a gamble, no idea what it is exactly) with a t-stopper. Don't know when this was bottled.

Will post some pics after this, maybe someone can shed some light on what the 1937 is ..

Gerwin,

I think it is safe to assume that is a 1937 Colheita, which should make it delicious if it has been properly stored :D

Here is some information on the shipper/merchant from another thread on :tpf: http://www.theportforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=4649

Thanks for the info! I have no idea about how it has been stored, but there are some positive signs:
- very good fill level;
- colour (as far as is visible) looks quite ok;
- perhaps a fraction of seepage (which suggests that the bottle has been lying down at least for some time.

I will try to find a good occasion somewhere this year to open and try it (birthday, Christmas, new year's eve, there are options :D )

I got some Panascal a few years ago...2001 & 2008...both had the same/similar labels as this one.
