Heh, like you I'm trying to avoid acquiring that much glassware; but I'd had my eye on some of those glasses for a while.

Take a box each. It simplifies arrangements when Jay isn’t in attendance and especially after I leave.

Note: did anyone acutally pick up the Taylor 85? I can pick it up if no and we want it in the line up
I would say: If you know a place that offers it, please do. It would definitely be a fitting addition to the line-up.

It was included in the original $$ numbers as $80, so just a slight modification would be needed. I think if our goal is to be "complete" it should be included.
I saw it yesterday for $115 in a retail store, standing upright on a shelf!

There was a request elsewhere to add Fonseca and Warre 1963 to this tasting. It sounds like that will add, at a bare minimum, $300 to the total wine costs (an extra $30 per person -- probably putting us at about $213 each). Thoughts?

Location? Today the Wisemans lunched at Petite Abeille, 401 East 20th Street at First Avenue NY 10010-7501, ☏ 212 727 1505, and I discussed with helpful manager Alex the possibility of our being hosted there. Apparently Friday nights are very busy, but Saturday less so. Objections to an informal Belgian diner objections of course being accompanied by a better plan.

Aww, I was looking forward to not having the pushiness of waiters eager to reclaim their table ... and not having huge corkage fees! However, if they were willing to cooperate with us having an "event" there on a saturday night, it might mean we could stretch the numbers a little. But g-man, if you need help with cleanup I can certainly assist.

On a different note, I've been approached by at least one person, and I kinda agree, that adding two 63's to the tasting might not be a worthwhile expense (13 stellar bottles for 10 people).

Jdaw1, do you have any idea on the terms you could get from the restaurant?
Corkage, time space what not.

I'm happy to host regardless.

Food prices would be cheaper too.

Yeah, the short story is that g-man and I became suspicious of the closures and labels on the Warre 63's being offered. I capped my bidding at 100 on the suspicious ones and 120 on the decent one, they all went above that.

Meanwhile, the Fonseca 63 went above our 150 target and was in dubious condition.
Sandemans 63, btw, was ignored. If there's any question why, see our tasting notes!! :)

On Saturday 18th April 2009, starting about 6pm, ten of us are drinking much splendid port. A precise menu, and cost, and such other details as people request, will be available no later than five days before the event.

Glasses: if Jeff’s arrive, great. If they don’t, Jay has agreed to be helpful.
