As a contingency, could I have a volunteer who has a better chance of attending than I have who could purchase two bottles locally on my behalf so that the line-up can remain intact if I cannot get there. The volunteer will become the owner of the two bottles I intended to bring along the next time I see him.

That volunteer should
contact me with a list of what can be bought, and I will make the choice, mindful of what others are bringing.

I am happy to leave this in the safe hands of our Paris-based event organiser.

Unfortunately, Elizabeth has come down with a case of the Greater Spotted Lurgy. Despite having already decanted my two contributions for the offline, I think it is most unlikely that I will be able to attend as I will need to be acting parent-in-charge.
Sorry. Next time I see most folks will be the Christmas offline.

It is now certain that I will not be travelling to London tomorrow so I will not be able to attend. Sorry.

Do you think, based on the drop-outs so far and that the weather is likely to be worse tomorrow that we should postpone this tasting?

Assuming no more people drop out, you are down to 6 tasters and 12 bottles. That still seems to be a good representation of daily drinkers so I would suggest that unless London is threatened by heavy snow then the tasting can still be a meaningful opportunity to test whether we are wasting our money or not.

I live approx 22 miles from The Crusting Pipe and we have had about 5" of new snow since 6pm last night. I just measured it. It now equates to around 12" overall. For another reason, I regret I shall be joining you in spirit only!

There's been about 3" overnight in Wokingham - the first snow we have had this bout of cold weather. Trains are running a stopping service and so are taking ages, but at least are running at the moment.
If this tasting event is cancelled, would someone (Jacob?) please call the Crusting Pipe on 0207 836 1415 and let them know. The booking is in my name.
Thanks.

We have now had 2 feet of snow and it is forecast to keep falling here until midnight. I might have to open a bottle of port to keep warm

Hence fewer pages.

With much regret, we decided to postpone this tasting, though a few hardy souls will be at the Crusting Pipe if anyone is around.
Perhaps we could have a chat at the Christmas Tasting to see if there is still an appetite for this and to work out when we could do it?

I would like to give this theme another try in 2011.

Jacob - have you given any thought about a date for this to be reorganised?
