First post update to add Gerwin to the reserve list and re-confirm interest from Tom and Glenn.

I am not updating the list of ports as their availability will very much depend on who the 14 brave survivors are when we get to 2051.

Perhaps those who have promised bottles could consider bequeathing them to this tasting in their Wills?

Please put me on the reserve list. It will be my 90th birthday that day so will have to celebrate the day before. I don’t have any 2011’s so will have to adopt.

And yes, I am still in.
I had Sunday lunch at the B&F just before Christmas (which was splendid). Their opening hours are 12.00-17.00. With 50+ Ports we may need to start on Saturday and finish on Sunday.

Let's hope we all make it to 2051 ! :D

Wait list plus 1 please! Will turn 80 within a few months of this onsite, cant think of a better way of celebrating. My son will be 40 (born in 2011) and will be joining me on this trip as he will be a huge port lover based on the 2011 VP collection collection I have amassed for him.

Getting worried now, still not on the reserve list. Paranoia is setting in, maybe this is only open to members of the New British Empire (MNBE’s) created in 2028 after the war in Europe (NBE won as Europe couldn’t agree on a defence strategy). Despite me acquiring a dodgy bottle of Nacional from a defrocked priest in 2049 (patience will prevail). Will drink it all my own😂

Being 1st on the reserve list, and seeing as there are 4 on the main list who have not yet re-confirmed as-of late 2018/early 2019, I am presenting my currently (early 2019) available Ports:

Graham
Graham's The Stone Terraces
Quevedo (2 x 375)
Quevedo (750)
Quevedo (6L)
Vesuvio

DRT is in charge, and needs to handle promotions and relegations. But allow my tuppence-worth: given the scale of the tasting, adding an Imperial would be a brave decision, minister.

I’ve done the opposite: placemats updated with a fuller list of Port, but not yet of people — awaiting decisions from DRT.

Indeed, eight pages of glasses suggests that this should be split into multiple sessions.

OK. One step at a time:

Since my last update on 9th November 2018 I can only see one reconfirmation from Ben Read.

JDAW, please confirm I have not missed anyone.

Assuming Ben is the only additional reconfirmation then CaliforniaBrad, RAYC, TLW and PEM are dropped from the attendees list and will be added to the bottom of the reserve list in that order. The reserve list will be updated first to include those who have asked to be added since 9th November.

Dude!

stop being so pessimistic! In 2051 I would be 81 and I admit given my current weight and lifestyle It is looks unlikely I would make it. But I still signed up!
Not sure if you watched a series called "All creatures great and small" so far but when Siegfried and James signed up for WII they drank really good old Bourdeaux from 1928. Siegfried drank on the night before joining up the RAF in 1939 Margaux 1928 and James drank with his wife Helen if I recall correctly Haut Brion 1928. So after signing up what will you drink tonight?

BTW any plans coming over the pond my dear?

Reconfirming too in case it is required, but I am not sure we completed confirmations from the last round yet. Anyway, in more ways than one I would be thrilled to attend.

Can I also add my son Zac (ZCD) to the reserve list please. Hopefully he will be wheeling me there and back so it would be nice for him to enjoy some of the juice too.

I say not. Derek’s call, but I say not.

If yes, all three of mine get added — this being the official bagsy — and soon after all of everybody else’s. I say no: Port enthusiasts can sign on themselves.

I might not be available, as I'll be getting my 102nd covid booster shot around this time.

That made me laugh.

I'll reconfirm too, even though I will be 87 on the day. I see no reason to be anything other than optimistic...
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

I say not. Derek’s call, but I say not.

If yes, all three of mine get added — this being the official bagsy — and soon after all of everybody else’s. I say no: Port enthusiasts can sign on themselves.
I agree with Julian.

I hereby appoint Julian D. A. Wiseman as Vice President of Administration of this tasting.

Julian, the organisation of this tasting is a mess, can you please sort it out? Hurry along man, there is no time to lose!
