Half a dozen Warre LBV from Waitrose with the 25% off. And a couple of the 2011 BOB, just to try and a half dozen H&H 15yo Verdelho. Not that the last one counts on this thread.

The Quinta do Vale Meao thread has prompted me to mention that I have recently come across two more bottles of the 2007 VP over here :sun:

I note with some relief that I haven't been listing a fraction of the stuff I've bought lately. If I did I think I would start receiving PMs asking me if I'm OK.
Case of F70 and some random 85s.

Tell me all about the case of F70, as you so casually put it.

Well. I was in Porto. A gentleman mentioned that he'd bought a case recently, and that there was one other. I had some cash and thought, hmm. So I contacted Corney's who said it had been bottled by them and been with them since release and that the levels were good. So, I said, does that mean you'll let me buy it? And they checked into it and said yes. And I did. And in September I'm going to tootle across to Ayr and pick it up.

You clever old thing. I hope you'll both be very happy together.

I fear already that this relationship will not last as long as it should. There, I've said it.

I think your relationship with Fonseca 1970 will blossom and grow. You will grow old together.

And no tasting notes at all on 1923. Most interesting.

Broadbent gives the Offley '23 a passing mention

Just looked it up, not glowing but warm words. From a magnum that looks right you have once again secured pole position to give the last word on this wine.

Oh you know, a couple of Dow, a couple of Warre. No Graham. These were the makeweights that I didn't really want, but which would be economical to have collected if I won the lot that I didn't at Brightwells. I got the makeweights. Such is life.

Chin up, I bet the next 85s you buy aren't as cheap. Nice wines too.

AW77 recommended this one to me - one email and 5 days later I got my 12 from, it goes without saying, the lovely Cátia.

6 botts of QdN 1997. Bought DP and inc. VAT from an established London merchant who appears to have got the price wrong (i'm not usually in the market for these). Bottles look pristine so unless they are ex-Kurniawan stock or similar, then i might just have scored a bit of a bargain.

Whilst rather pleased with the find, i am also slightly embarrassed about my own greed, thus prompting the question: what obligations, moral, legal or otherwise, does a buyer have to (i) inform the seller of a potential pricing error and (ii) refrain from "hitting the offer" so to speak?

Example: an airline misprices business flights to NYC at £40 when they should have been £4000. Past cases of this have, i think, ended up in court (or other relevant body), and in some cases ruled in favour of the airline on the basis that the quoted price was so far from realistic that any potential buyer ought to have realized there was an issue/error.

In my view, wine buying is not completely analogous to the airline example as wine can be negatively affected by storage conditions, provenance etc. which in turn affects the price as well. Whilst i carried out some due diligence (getting a picture of the bottles), i can never obtain "perfect information" about the bottles. This should in turn allow for a greater bid/ask spread and thus strengthening the buyer's argument, both morally an legally.

I would be interested in hearing your views on this (other than: "bring the bottles to TBH and we'll help alleviate your guilt").

Moderators, feel free to move to a new thread if you feel that my post hijacks the current thread.

Unless others disagree I think this is best left below the radar by remaining here

Congratulations. Morality in the wine trade would make an interesting study. I'm not sure the researchers would find much evidence of it.

Are you certain it isn't Silval or Colheita?
