Oh, can't forget Quinta de Nápoles either.
Napoles is a wine production centre rather than port, so is strictly off-limits as a quinta.

However, it is a significant destination, so my feeling is that it should appear on the map, perhaps in the same typeface (but smaller font) to that used for locations like Pinhao and Regua.

I agree that Nacional is not a quinta in its own right, but feel that if space permits, it should appear in parentheses at the appropriate location, along with the 'vinha velha' vines at Vargellas.

It's true that Niepoort's port wines are made at Museu dos Lagares in Vale Mendiz rather than Napoles, but grapes from Napoles will surely be used in their ports, and it is Niepoort's prime posession, so I would vote to put it on the map.

Given the growth in the production and marketing of Douro wines perhaps it would be a good idea to have Quinta's such as Napoles and Macedos identified in a different style or colour from Quinta's that produce port?

Incidentally, whilst looking for something else, I noticed that Mayson has a (not very detailed) map in his book, pg.116”“117, which demarks the appellation; the dams; towns; gradients and 69 quintas (of which the extra 10 compared to Tom’s list appear to be owned by major shippers but which are not used for SQVP).

I guess we are loosing the topic a bit. Is any of the administrators capable of uploading a map in this forum. I could send you an email with a jpeg map from me, which might be downsizable a bit and still readable.

Any suggestions?

I think posting a high res jpeg image here would cause problems as it would take a while to load and display the thread. Perhaps a better solution is to upload the image to somewhere like http://www.flickr.com and post a link to it from here?
