I don't know what the Eira Velha is like, but I tasted the regular Martinez in Jan. 2006 and, judging from my TN, didn't really like it:
Smells like sour sweets and cooked vegetables. Odd. Also some spices (sage, cloves). This is incredibly thin on the palate, and extremely acidic, combined with artificial sweetness. Not recommended. 78/79
Picked up two bottles of their 97 a little while ago ($26/ea) so hopefully not too bad in 5 years.

Just phoned. Crush have a ‟large parcel” of it, but can’t commit on delivery better than ‟first three months of 2009”. However, they would accept an order ‟conditioned on arrival before the middle of February”.

Two each three ways: who else?

I'd like to make one other suggestion:
If all bottles are claimed, but one (or more) are clearly substandard (terribly leaky or the like) and not refundable, we split the cost for that one amongst those purchasing and promptly decant.

I think it would be tragic if it weren't here before jdaw left, but I'd be up for 2 even beyond feb. perhaps someone wants to volunteer to buy jdaw's if they arrive too late, or we go 2-2-1-1, but 0-2-2-2 if too late?

Which, might I add, I have just acquired the aforementioned Fonseca03/Taylor91 specifically meant to be drunk with a certain Fonseca 1970 :) (the previous two being predesignated for long-term storage)

Hart Davis Hart has F77 in the US for $150 (2 bottles, one SOS)... it can be found as low as ~$110 in England.

How does one get on Benchmark Wine's Port mailing list? I have purchased from them twice, both times Port only, and somehow all they ever send me are their Bordeaux and other red wine listings.

Re: Port for sale by retailer

One day I will get to the pearly gates. Saint Peter himself will be holding them open: ‟no problem sir, we’ve handled the bureaucracy for you, and you’ve plenty of time we’re not starting for a few hours”. Of course we all know what will be starting then, but to allow the key-holding fisherman the pleasure of anticipating the joy, I, wide-eyed and listening alertly, will still ask. ‟Why sir, of course it’s the ’31 horizontal. We delayed the tasting until you arrived last month we substituted a ’91/’92 comparison. You’d have liked it, but we knew you would want the ’31 to happen after your arrival.” I shall praise my hosts’ (geddit?) self-restraint and general kindness, lick my lips, shake my torso to remove the awful feeling of the defibrillation paddles the natives down here just don’t seem to care that one doesn’t want to arrive at a ’31 horizontal in the sky so shaken up and have a quick shower, before checking that Saint Augustine of Hippo (who might have delegated the job to Saint Brigid of Ireland or to Saint John of God) have done both of satisfactorily kerning the placemats, and including the extra I will take with me, the and this sentence is approaching a dénouement very rare Roncao 1931. ‟Bought it at Acker, Merrall & Condit,” I shall say, ‟during the credit crisis of ’08”.

So please don’t rush to buy those until Acker have sent me pictures and stuff, as I might need one of those bottles at a tasting with some very important folks.

Yes. I was thinking that you would donate it to the tasting for us to drink, while you revise or something.

For anyone seeking, those are good prices on some older ports. Warres 77 was also ws92 and ws93, well worth it at $70, and the 1970 probably moreso. I apologize if the Bogle in me is shining thru. Happy date tonight -- i cooked, then we made apple pie :D
