the same. I go to (eg) the Port Conversations page, click on the logo and it takes me to the index. Clicking on ThePortForum.com does nothing.

Was the site coded from scratch or does it use a proprietary template? Perhaps our caches are storing different iterations of the main page frame; or perhaps different versions of Safari (etc) resolve the code / tags differently.
Yes, bizarre.

We have been using different Styles to view the forum. I have been using PortForumRed, you PortForumRed2012.
I have switched and now see what you see.
The index pages are built from the rubble of an earlier version so have retained those features from the previous style. Will fix.

Did you update the alphabetical listing in the last few days? If so, there are a handful of manual changes that need to be made.

Should the TN threads linked from
here be deleted? On the right is an extract from the voting page, showing planned attendees. It seems unlikely that any will now post a TN.
Any disagreement?

AHB is The Port Forum Vice President of Quality Assurance (Tasting Notes). He looks for errors in the indexing and reports them to the The Port Forum Vice President of Sticking a Spanner in the Database (Tasting Notes).

There's a famous election slogan by former Chancellor Willy Brandt: "Let's dare more democracy!" When someone wants to criticise too much red tape in Germany, this is turned into "Let's dare more bureaucracy!".

The index has been updated today. Four hundred and sixty two tasting notes have been added to the forum since 2nd Dec 2014.
Good work on the TNs; shoddy on the updates.
AHB - you have work to do on fixing thread titles. You might want to remind the culprits of
this.

I've finished working my magic and noticed some interesting things when I was going through the index. I have a perception that we drink or taste some pretty old stuff. While it's true that we do, less than I had imagined. We have 5,295 tasting notes in our database but only 47 of those are of ports which were made in the 19th century. The oldest tasting notes are from June 2007. The most frequently tasted vintage is 1970 (380 notes), the oldest 1815 (2 notes) and an honourable mention to the 1863 vintage having 10 notes. We have 421 tasting notes on non-vintage ports.
Among the big shipper we have a real shortage of notes on older vintages. Ferreira is well represented and includes 1815, 1830, 1834, 1863 and then a jump to 1917. We have notes for Sandeman 1873 and 1884 and for Croft 1896 and 1904. There is an isolated tasting note for Dow 1896 but then the next oldest vintage of Dow we have tasted is the 1945. We have note tasted vintage wines from any of the other shippers which are from the 19th century.
We have 4,870 tasting notes of vintage dated ports. 82 (1.7%) of these are of ports which were 100 years old or more when we tasted them. 26 were in their 90s, 66 in their 80s, 96 in their 70s, 110 in their 60s, 370 in their 50s, 733 in their 40s, 804 in their 30s, 830 in their 20s, 858 in the age range 10-19 inclusive, 887 with ages 2-9 (which covers cask samples and new releases) and even 9 pre-release samples!
