Could the list of attendees and Ports in the first post be updated, please?

I will be responsible for decanting three: F85, NN87, D97. My plan is to decant the F85 and D97 first thing in the morning, and the NN87 early afternoon. Objections?

Would it be possible to decant the night before for the D and F? Certainly F85 enjoys a long decant, and I doubt D97 would object.

Very well: D97 and F85 to be decanted the night before.

Ck77 will be decanted early morning prior to travel to London.

I was going to decant the S63 just after lunch on the day, unless there are any recommendations of an optimum time?

Room for one more with a bottle of F77 ?

Could we include a definition of black and blue? Perhaps "Black and blue = blue centre, burnt on the outside"

Please post notes taken on decanting into the appropriate TN thread (BN60, Cr63, S63, Mz63, F70, O70, O72, Ck77, F77, F85, NN87, D97), as has already been done for F85 and D97.

Apologies for not asking this earlier.

The OBV72 is expected to be awful. Does anyone have a preference as to whether or not I decant it before traveling to London (circa 12 hours before the tasting) or when I arrive?

It will not affect the awfulness, but some might wish to experience the awfulness from the point at which the cork is drawn.

If there is no reply I will bring intact.

I am hoping that this will be marvellous! I unfortunately don't know what the best time for decanting would be, so I shall leave it to you, but I shall remain optimistic that it will show well, and be very interested in whether it lives down to your expectations or not. Three cheers for the 72 vintage!

Bring intact. We can sample it from D+0 to D+4hr, which should be enough warning for those wanting some.

Maybe the O72 has previously been in a closed 'sulking' phase and tomorrow will reveal some nectar from the port gods! Let's remain positive until proved otherwise gentlemen.

It has not been proved to you. Which is not the same thing as it not having been proved.

"proved" or "proven"?
