A fine suggestion for those who can provided there is no snobbery implied against those who can't.

Does that include those who can’t for moral reasons?

Sorry, ignore that. I can do “cheap ruby†…I was worried about the †Cruz Ruby†!

Are you afraid of hardwork?
When your struggling to make an earth-shatteringly important point on Port, just nip to Meaningless Drivel.

If you reach 25 posts by then you'll be stuck with Cockburn's Special Reserve

I would be worried about opening a Cruz Ruby too. I would be mush more worried about CSR which comes next for you.
I can do M85

I suppose, at least, either of those would make a good Port Zabaglione!

"

Chief Admin and Admin 3,
Should we perhaps indulge in some one-night-only rank fixing so that each member can choose their preferred tipple and have that as their Rank for the evening?
Those who wish to choose based on their current rank could still do so but those who do not wish to or cannot could share in the Rank experience.

But what happens if through posts made on the evening ones rank changes. Is that an automatic requirement to open a second bottle of said new rank?! This could become self perpetuating. The more we post, the more we drink, the more we post. Where would it end?!
More to the point, can someone remind me where to find the ranking so I can plan for the future!
I am also vagualy hopeful I may be responsible for bringing another port drinker into this world around then. Is there any prize for engineering ones first son on that date?! It would of course be yet further excuse for more port!

This could be done, but we will need notice of the Ports.

The “if possible† was meant to hide a variety of sins, including one’s rank being a not-for-human-consumption type of port, and not having the right bottle to hand.

Ben,
Good point on the changing Ranks mid-Off-line: We all need contingency bottles
I think the Ranks are in a post titled I'm Cruz Ruby in Meaningless Drivel or Site Stuff. If not they will probably appear here soon.
It would be fabulous if we could welcome our newest member into the world during the Virtual Off-line. Although, you might have difficulty persuading Mrs Read that he (she) should be named

So what rank am I?
Ah. Martinez 1985 could be a problem as I don't have any. Niepoort 1977 would be and even bigger problem as I don't have any of that. Fonseca 1980 I can do, but may not want to.
I guess that I'll have to forecast my port consumption for the next 6 weeks to try and anticipate what I will be opening that night. Then I can request my rank change...

Benread , although It should read Montréal , country of Quebec ( I've always refered to It in those terms ) . Conky and others are aware of my political leanings in regard to this unacceptable situation . )

Ah, I was wondering if that was the reason! I spent a few days in Montréal last Summer. It’s a lovely city, though I was never quite convinced that “Compagnie de la Baie d'Hudson† had quite the right ring to it!
