I have opened three bottles of Co83 in the past, from two cases, of which one was entirely VA free, one had just the slightest hint of VA and the third (which had suffered cork failure) was strangely 'woody' but was otherwise free of VA or TCA. All three were very dark and intense for their age.

Although this wine has a higher than average incidence of duff bottles, I'm not inclined to write it off completely..

There has been a decision to keep it at one session. Some of us — obviously not me — are older than we were, and two sessions was thought too much.

Fourteen people, one session: I’m deciding a limit of twenty Ports. We’re seven behind that at the moment, but not all those who can offer mature bottles have yet done so. If, after that, we’re light, then I will accept your kind offer of the likes of Tua 1987 and Canais 1992.

Is that fair? Does anybody disagree? If yes, why?

Yes at Bonhams. Failed to sell at the last auction and now offered again on a lower estimate, but still high given it's condition..

I have re-confirmed. And emailed re ’47 and ’67 (alas, both nineteen rather than eighteen).

Reconfirming please. The Ck70 I have is mid shoulder and possibly not of the quality that is required for a tasting of this magnitude and importance so it would be better if I adopt please, as I don’t have another bottle to offer other than a 1991, which I don’t think will be required.

I have fifteen bottles of Co70, so can easily spare one - all have levels in neck.

I can reconfirm and having checked only have the Ck63 as it turns out. Have PM’d the cost.

Just to clarify what I meant by "financial rebalancing":

My intention is to agree a fair price with the donor of each bottle. The total cost will be calculated using these prices and equivalent credit given for the £ value of the bottles. There will then be an exchange of cash amongst the group to reach a position where everyone has contributed an equivalent amount in £ or Port.

So, if the average cost of the bottles works out at £200 and you donate a bottle worth £120 you will also need to pay £80 into the fund to allow those who contribute a greater value in Port to be compensated. Those with no Port to give would pay the full £200.

The £200 figure is a guess, please don't rely on it. The actual figure will be made known once I have all the prices in.

I don’t have the details to hand but my immediate reaction suggests little ‘inflation’ since 2008. I haven’t compared the line up, bottle condition or vintage though!
