I suspect the recently announced changes to HMG policy re social gatherings will lead to a further date change, but let's see what happens...

Thanks to JDAW for doing the placemats (which I'm sure will need a number of updates - including below).

Thought the Dow 50 looked a bit lonely so have added in an Offley Boa Vista 50 for some balance.

Ports from the last time there were global restrictions on freedom of movement being unable to be drunk because of the current restrictions... Ah well.

There are two options:
(1) Delay the tasting until we are allowed to have 14 people together once again; or
(2) Hold the tasting in 2-3 instalments, each instalment of no more than 6 people (all of whom are willing and able to leave when the B&F is required to close at 10pm)

In either case, please can I have my seat at the tasting back!
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!

Pretty sure option 1 Is going to be the outcome (although suspect 9 or 10 is the max for this tasting anyway), and yes you can then have your place back!

The problem with the current government is that none of them are wine connoisseurs. Down with this sort of thing.

Assuming we can't do this as planned for 8+, do any of the planned attendees (up to 6) fancy making use of the booked venue for a general session of Port consumption & witty conversation, etc.?

It's already in diaries so seems a shame not to...

Have provisionally booked Lutyen's Room at 67 Pall Mall for evening of Wednesday 8th September 2021 for rearranged event.

If you were confirmed for the previous date could you please reconfirm availability and that you still have your intended offering (or replacement).

Is there anyone else we'd like to ask? I'm happy to leave as is, but thought I'd check.

To maintain a spread of vintages, the OBV50 being adopted by SCD could be replaced with a TH47 (from the same stock of bottles).
What's the preference?

I’m not going to be able to get my bottles to the venue in advance, so will be decanting late afternoon on the day.
HTWH’s T45 - which I’m holding for him - will be delivered in advance and I’m going to ask that this be decanted at a similar time.

Does this seem sensible?

Stuff for Wednesday...

I'll print placemats, etc.
Kickoff at 1900, I'll aim to be there around 1800 - possibly earlier.
Dress code is smartish. Jacket required, but no tie.
We're in the Lutyen's Room.

Does everyone have my mobile number in case of difficulties on the day?

My bottle opened at 09.45 to Audouze gently for a few hours before decanting.
