Standard for me please;
Starter - crab
Main - rare ribeye steak, peppercorn sauce, chips, green beans
Desert- Welsh rarebit

If I understand correctly my Cockburn (with no provenance to speak of) won't be required?

Food order has already gone in & as mentioned above crab starter no longer available. Have left yours as "Order on the night".
Correct - Cockburn not required.

Will W. wrote: 09:04 Wed 10 Apr 2024 Yes, please. A fascinating theme. I have 1970 and 1994 Dow as well as 1994 Graham. None of it was released in 2021 nor did it repose in (or presumably under) Blenheim Palace.
Will - are you still coming?
I've put your food order down as "to be ordered on the night".

Somebody please check carefully.
A couple of issues:
- Ck70(UK stored) says Dow instead of Cockburn in its circle text.
- D70(Blenheim) should be MPM not NAC
Additionally noting that Harry is included an attendee but not currently attending, but understand this is deliberate.

Placemats are good. Like the matrix.

Neil - any advice on Blenheim Cockburn 1970 decant time as you may well have tried one already? Thanks

I'd suggest two hours of air time before it goes back into the bottle.

Still working through the quince jam made from crop last year.
Have loads of quince now.
Any takers?

Can bring on Tuesday.

Make tons of marmalade. It keeps well. They're also good sliced and put in the oven with brown sugar/honey and cinnamon.

Heads up on costs for tonight.
For 8 of the bottles tonight I know what they cost, for the others I've assumed a supply cost of £100 per bottle (which is close to the average of the 8).
If you've not been asked to supply a bottle your cost (for wines) is going to be somewhere around £110. If you are supplying a bottle then your cost will be reduced. I'll confirm what's owed later.

If the £100 is too low let me know.

S70 WS bottling single decanted at 9am and then returned to original bottle at 11am. Bottle had been stood up for over a month and when I came to decant I noticed that the cork had fallen into the juice. Seal was ok and contents similar.

Individual shipper scorings:

Ck70 - 1st place Blenheim (30pts), 2nd place UK Stored (20pts), 3rd 2016 Release (15pts)
D70 - 1st Blenheim (32), 2nd BBR (19), 3rd UK Stored (15)
W70 - 1st Blenheim (33), 2nd Private Cellar (17), 3rd Wine Society (9)
S70 - 1st Blenheim (31), 2nd 2012 Release from Magnum (24), 3rd Wine Society (10)

So, clean sweep for the Blenheims.

Then, overall Wine of The Night:

1st S70 Blenheim (26pts)
2nd D70 Blenheim (16)
3rd W70 Blenheim (10)
4th S70 2012 Release from Magnum (6)
5th= D70 BBR & D70 UK Stored (3)
7th= Ck70 Blenheim & Ck70 2016 Release (1)

Once again, the W70 Private Cellar showed it's limitations, and the late release Ck70 also disappointed. Clear evidence that long-time storage in Porto isn't good?
