1. RAYC got a flat tyre and had to walk 4 miles.
2. DRT opened the wrong type of wine.
3. BMHR had to feed the baby.
4. JDAW's internal alarm went off when the abbreviation "pre-00 Warre" was used.
5. AHB found the only bottle of Cr77 that isn't damaged.
6. JGH arrived.
Thanks. Can we get you to compile lists at future non-vertical tastings? It might help us all keep track (or recreate what happened...)!
It would be my pleasure. That list was complied without re-reading the thread so it proves that drinking Douro wine improves the short-term memory. Fact.

 Surely there must be something fortified available? Not even a vin doux naturels?

You don't for a minute think JDAW1 has actually allowed himself to run out of VP do you?

For ‟non-vertical” read ‟non-virtual”, where keeping track of time seems somewhat more difficult and where I think you might be less happy drinking table wines ;-)

From the Skype conversation we had this evening I can confirm that there is "something fortified" in Paris this evening, although I doubt he could fit in a bottle.

As far as I can tell jdaw1 relies on aid-parcels of Port from the UK. The problem is that each parcel contains x bottles of Port whilst the delivery process requires the consumption of around x + 2 bottles. Thus he is trapped in a paradox where the more Port he has delivered the less Port he has. ∴ More Port = less Port. ∴ 2 = 1. QED ∎

Oh dear. I’m not sure I’ve drunk enough Port to cope. What’s the minimum recommended amount?

I think it needs to get to q=25 to qualify. We could abort now without losing any TW credits?

Ah, I was more specifically referring to the minimum Port consumption before embarking on the attempt! But considering the time, we may have to leave this for another time (or perhaps our American friends to continue...)

Today was a bit of unwinding in preparation for what is likely to be an unpleasant few days - but I was in the office at 5am so that I only had to take a half day's holiday. Friday night will see me relaxing again at Chelmsford (weather permitting) :)
Top Ports in 2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

2025: Quevedo 1972 Colheita, b.2024. Just as good as Niepoort 1900!
