This is exactly why I've been buying them in twos. One is one and all alone and ever more shall be so.
That is very profound but doesn't help with my decision in any way.

Please consider me in, and am happy to contribute a large format of either Fonseca or Taylor.
There is, however, a relatively high chance that my attendance may be of a Jeremy Bentham sort, with reviews stating:
TLW - "Present, but not drinking"

Unless the Bung Hole changes its tables between now and the big day (

Separate to that:

I've got Vieira de Sousa, Morgadio da Calçada (Niepoort), and Barão de Vilar to offer up, although these might be better suited to an earlier tasting. I have others as well, but these were my more unique offerings thus far.
I tried to mark my calendar, but it seems Google Calendar has a bug as it moved my event entry to 2050 despite my best efforts.

I have all three super cuvees - GST, VVV, VC. I will have to strictly ration, though, as I only have 11 bottles, 2 bottles, and 4 bottles respectively.

That is a good plan. On 24th April 2051 you will only have 10, 1 and 3 bottles remaining. Do not throw them away so recklessly after that otherwise you might run out

There is an earlier tasting for SQVPs - can't remember the date, I think only 25 years hence...

I'll keep myself on this thread as I can also supply Tayloy, Fonseca, Niepoort, Quevedo, Smith Woodhouse, Vesuvio, Noval, and Vale D. Maria as necessary. (I also
purchased Dow, but as I don't possess it yet, I can't promise that.) I'll check on that other tasting in about 20 years to see if a few of these could go to that as well. The Vieira de Sousa and Barão de Vilar aren't SQVPs. I'll have to check the label on the Morgadio. I don't think it is technically a single quinta, but it might be the closest to qualifying. Of course if the intent of the earlier tasting is just to try things that might not go the distance ...

Sorry, yes, that was me being imprecise - SQVPs, smaller or newer brands - admirably summed up as 'things that might not go the distance' in fact.

In addition to all 3 super cuvees, I also have Vieira de Sousa and Quevedo (6L, 1.5L, 750mm, 375mm). Though the smaller Quevedo bottles are likely to be consumed before 2051.

I will almost certainly have to send out my daughter as my 'runner' (I briefed her the other day but Peppa Pig was on and so not sure how much she digested) but of those not currently listed I can offer both Burmester and Churchill in Mags and RP in standard.

The organiser has been slack about updating the first post, so I have done it, at least in part. And somehow there are nineteen people who want to play. I have cut the reserve list, as is traditional, at 14 people, but it seems, ahem, likely, that there will be spaces for all those currently on the reserve list (which is not the same thing as saying that all will attend).
The list of Ports has not yet been finalised.
idj123 wrote:I will almost certainly have to send out my daughter as my 'runner'
The organiser needs to make a policy decision about this. Your ‘runner’ is a port enthusiast not attending. DRT: pronounce!

Having consulted one of my colleagues from Actuarial it seems that a number of the members currently in places 1 to 14 will be unavailable to attend and therefore in no need of a runner. A greater than average number of cold winters between now and 2051 might mean we require more reserves!

Yes, we all die. But are then replaced by descendants — so the reserves never make it.
Are the dead replaced by their children or by the reserves?

My cryogenically frozen body may be there, which technically isn't bequeathing a place as it's me. Just a stiffer version. Someone else attending is welcome to help me consume my share of the Port.

This thread was started just over five years ago. It seems appropriate that people should, once every half decade, have to re-confirm their likely attendance, longevity permitting.
Those who do not, before 2nd February 2019, re-confirm their intention to attend, will be deemed to have lost interest. Please re-confirm.
I have hereby done so.

Over the past 5 years I appear to have acquired a handful of other bottles from the 2011 vintage. I will put neck labels on them to ensure I don't drink them before St George's Day 2051.
The additional bottles I could contribute to the tasting are:
- Berry Brothers Own Label {magnum}
- Duorum
- Quinta de Vale Meao
- Quinta do Infantado
- Quinta do Passadouro
- Quinta do Sagrado
- Taylor Vargellas Vinha Velha
And I believe someone acquired some bottles of Quarles Harris from Trader Joe to ensure that particular port could make an appearance at this event.

If at all possible, I would like to be added to the Reserves list. As I'll be just 77 at this time I expect to be able to attend.
2011 VP's that I could bring along are:
Not yet on the list:
- Kopke
- Krohn
- Krohn Quinta do Retiro Novo
- Pocas Junior
Already on the list:
- Cockburn's
- Fonseca
- Quevedo
- Warre
