Yes please. I have never read it.
I'll bring it for you on the 2nd!
Thank you. Is it in English or Mandarin?
English. Odd plastic cover, pocket sized, many careless owners.

Please could the organiser advise on the theme, as I will have to send the bottle(s) in advance.

In the absence of a last minute flurry of voting, the theme will be "Bring a blinded bottle of port to share with Henry and friends." I am seizing executive powers and have decided to allow non-vintage ports, just in case anyone wants to bring a bottle of something special that is not vintage port.
In order to make sure that we generate a good cross section of maturity and don't end up with 12 colheitas, please drop me a PM to let me know the style of the port you plan to bring and the decade in which the grapes were harvested. If we start to get too much group-think going then I will intervene.

A clarification on the theme is required. It is "Bring a blinded bottle of mature port not from SFE or TPF to share with Henry"

This is ambiguous. Is the criterion that the brand is now not owned by one of the two biggest conglomerates, or that it was not owned when the grapes were picked?

If it is the former I will have to put my Cockburn 1873 back in the wine fridge.

It is the former so please put your Cockburn 1873 away. Surely you realisedthat Henry is sick of having to drink Cockburn 1873 all day, every day.

My blinded bottle is now in the care of the Chesterfield Bottle Whisperer (who is trying desperately to guess what it is). Is the venue for this still the Bung Hole? May I ask if it might be the Boot & Flogger?
EDIT: Just read the updated first post. Good.

With a couple of people having had to drop out, there are two spaces at the table for the evening with Henry. Henry and I have been exchanging emails today and he is very much looking forward to the evening.

A very reasonable exchange. Hopefully Henry will be able to give us a steer on the prospects for the 2015 vintage

This seems entirely fair-just a shame one or two people are having to pull out. Very much looking forward to it

Twelve of us, presumably in the Red Room, so there will be enough space for placenames. Would they help Henry? If yes they’ll be in the form “Julian W.”

Yes why not. This might be an opportune moment to announce that the reciprocal membership arrangement that Henry facilitated between the Ulster Reform Club and the Oporto Lawn Tennis & Cricket Club has completed all of its trials by paper and is now official. Who wants to be my guest?

Very sorry to hear that Phil. Haven't seen you in ages, seems like it'll be May until we get to drink Port together again. Keep yourself going with the thought of mackerel, good Port, and the Oporto Cricket Club.

Probably. But I will cope by asking Kasha to make sure there are at least 10 sirloin steaks kept back for us on the night.

I'm sure we could get a food order together by Monday, even if not for everyone. It is kind of handy when the staff arrive with the food saying your name, which the emailed table of orders facilitates...
I'll start, and if enough respond then great. From the
B&F ‘Dining Menu’:
Potted shrimps
Chargrilled sirloin steak 220g (Rare, no sauce)
Peas and beans with mint lemon and butter

Perhaps we should all have the cold roast beef?
If my memory serves correctly the last time we visited on a Monday the steaks were a bit small and ropey, no doubt being the runts of the previous week's litter.
I might go off piste.

Chicken liver pâté with toast
Gammon, egg and chips with, or without black pudding

Sounds almost perfect, but...
Truffle Mac & Cheese
Gammon, egg and chips with,
or without black pudding.

It’s some vegetarian pants that some people have decided to believe is anything other than tasteless vegetarian pants. It’s a secular religious joke, like the New-Zealand Jedi thing. Do you really need to know more?
djewesbury wrote:Please sir, what is Truffle Mac?
Truffle Mac & Cheese is presumably Mac and Cheese with added Truffle. Rather resembling what it says on the tin.
