1999 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne

This tastes younger than the 98 I had recently, it has more lemon and a paler colour. My enjoyment of the wine is unalloyed by the thought at the back of my mind that it has something slightly coarse on the finish. The optimists would say that it should be left for another five years, but I think it will always be a lesser wine than the 98. But it stood up well to food which is a good sign in a champagne.
