Decanted 12 hours, 25% opacity, red heart, brown-orange outer, some fine sediment. Smooth entry, some heat and slight fieriness mid palate and onwards. Red fruit in there somewhere. The fieriness should have had me guess Taylor. Instead I guessed Mz55.
Red-orange centre with a burnt orange rim; 20% opaque. Slightly oxidised on the nose with the alcohol showing but with pleasant floral elements and a hint of sweet kumquat. Lovely texture on the palate, thick and full of delicious sweet fruit but with a pleasant bite of acidity. A wonderful floral fragrance comes through on the late palate. There is some heat on the aftertaste, a touch of thin-ness and then a big, sweet, sticky strawberry jam. Rather delicious. Served blind this was guessed to be a mature Taylor - Taylor 1963. 87/100
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.
2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
