bman here

I see several port-loving buds from the WS forums here, which is nice as I don't see them there so often. Perhaps that's because I'm not so ofter there any more. Life intrudes too often.

I've been loving vintage port serviously for about 9 years now, which somehow has been long enough to amass a collection of...let's just say lots of port.

I've also been lucky enough to attend one of the greatest port offlines, if not one of the greatest offlines period, at Berry Brothers and Rudd in London a couple of years ago, where several of us present here tasted 1970 and 77 Taylor, Fonseca, Dow and Graham side by side. I've participated in a few dozen offlines but that is one in which the wine, the people and the venue were about as perfect as could be. The planets aligned. 8)

Then there was that bottle of 45 Croft.....

Bman,

Welcome aboard. You sound as though you come with the highest Provenance! Shame you'll be roughing it with people like me. :D
I said earlier I'd never had a 63, only to be reminded I'd drunk one with Killerb and Derek a few weeks earlier!
Now I'm sure I've never had a 45...Have I? :D

Alan, I have it on good authority you had a Colt 45, 25 years ago.

Very Good. And I have actually shot a few Colt 45's in training, for fun. But the Official one (which I thankfully never drew in anger) was the Smith & Wessen 38.

I'm going to be very careful with my next 'Have I ever...' question!   You guys are good.

If we get BirDungy on here that would be three Canadians... that would trump the Dutch.

Don't confuse a Canadian and a Québécois !!!
But , being a member of the Port collective , resistance is futille . . .

Am I missing something? Isn't Quebec a province of Canada? Therefore Quebecois are Canadian but only some Canadian's are Quebecois :?

I equate this to calling a Scotsman British - it's true, even if it is accepted grudgingly for no logical reason.

Québec is a province IN Canada not OF Canada . . .
It's really a language issue . . .

Plus : Québec sends more outstanding goalkeepers to the NHL than the rest of Canada . . .

OK - it's the end of a very long week and I have a man from Quebec who mainly speaks French teaching me English grammar. Time to go home and have a beer 88)

IN or OF - Quebec is in Canada, so Quebecoise are Canadians - aren't they :?

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome. I believe that I have offlined (several times in some cases) with a sizable chunk of the membership here. As it grows, I hope that continues to be true!

I hate to disappoint Luc, but in fact my wife is one of the one million+ French Canadians NOT from Quebec. Ottawa is on the other side of the river from Quebec (for those keeping score at home).

As for Canadians, if all those portloving Canadians on the WS Forums (i.e. DoktaP, Seaquam, Baird) were to join, we might even outnumber the Yanks!

OOops, sorry bwoman, hope no offence was taken.

Well, bman, go and get them. I don't have their e-mails. All the Americans that I have e-mails for are non-Portheads but I'll e-mail them anyway. Grossie takes a good Port as well, talking of Canadians.

Hey bman , I was born in Manitoba in '62 , but moved to Montréal in '68 .
Have returned to Manitoba every summer ( most of the cousins are there )
so have been able to witness 1st hand the assimilation of the French language .

Indeed. I'm from Windsor where the same thing happened. All the major downtown streets are in French, as are many of the surnames, but it's only spoken in some towns outside of Windsor

That's Canada , no i before a !!
What type of key board are you using . . .
On mine , the a is 11.5 cm's from the i .
But who noticed ?

Since Alberta could be considered a country , then and only then could the spelling Canadia be accepted

So are you a Canadan then?

I guess you could say that . . . but I'm only guessing
A historical perspective prevents moi from giving an answer with an affirmative response , thus diluting the aromas which one may receive If a historical answer was given . . . :?
