Thu 17 Sep 2015 - The Boot & Flogger's Fine Wine List

This evening I was sad to discover that the Boot & Flogger's fine wine list no longer includes Quinta do Noval 1966. Don't get me wrong, it is still an extremely attractive port list (which includes 1963 Graham @ £245, Warre 1970 @ £115 and Offley 1970 @ £90) and I was easily able to find an alternative that I managed to use to console myself.
After a tough couple of weeks for both personal and work reasons I decided to decline an invitation to the Help the Heroes World Stars Charity Cricket Match at the Oval this evening and instead chose to spend a couple of hours at the Boot & Flogger with a bottle of
Dow 1970. If anyone can make it here tonight before 7pm you are welcome to join me! Being a member of the Port Forum certainly has its privileges. The B&F is very busy tonight but I have been given the Green Room to myself and have been provided with a bowl of chopped sausages in honey and mustard glaze despite these being available on a pre-order only basis.
Life is good, although the b******s who were here last week didn't even clear up after themselves and I am surrounded by bottles that still have their TPF labels on!!!

Moral support to the one-man-tasting now being supplied from Barlborough...

Thank you. That is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately no-one was able to join me other than morally. Despite this set-back I am pleased to report that I have consumed 1 litre of water and approximately 600ml of Dow 1970. The rest of the Dow will be heading home with me.
The offline will officially close in 2 minutes.

It has been a pleasure.
Enjoy the rest of the D70 on the train home

Precedent has been set. A quorum is now 1 member and 1 bottle.

Sorry, but my day started almost the same time as yours did and I'm still at work. No port for me today, this weekend will be a different story

Aren't you supposed to be at work? But I do whole-heartedly agree with the statement

Ouch! Perhaps you should investigate whether the metropolitan police need a London based liaison officer from the LA Police Force. Such a person would be paid an LA policeman's salary but would be based in London. He might even have his London accommodation costs paid as a business expense.
But don't feel too sorry for me. Tomorrow night I will not be consuming port since I will be attending the opening ceremony and first match of the 2015 Rugby World Cup!

Hmm, will have to look into that. I've already been pointed in the right direction to obtain a visa. I will to ask for plenty of "purple time off" if I can swing it. LOL
Somehow, I'm not feeling very sorry for you

In which case, I am sure, you look forward to watching Scotland defeat Australia.

I thought that always was the quorum!

No. A quorum requires at least one member, but at least two bottles.
