1985 Calem
1985 Calem
Thirty years after harvest we held a small horizontal of 1985s.
Re: 1985 Calem
Cá85, opened earlier in the day, re-closed, and decanted 16:00. Red-red-orange, 50% opaque. Nose a hint sour. Early palate very acidic, with red cherries behind the acidity. Long. Drinkable, but not much better than that. (Indeed, true of much of the first page.)
Re: 1985 Calem
Cá85 Heat on the nose and the first taste, but fades quite quickly. Plummy, very pleasant if unspectacular. Slight in colour and starting to brown. 88 points

Re: 1985 Calem
Mid-red, mature colour; 80% opaque. A slight hint of VA on the nose adding a gentle of layer of complexity to the sweet fruit. Smooth and gentle texture, mild and sweet fruit which develops pleasantly to give a balanced and rounded acidity on the mid-palate. A sweet and fragranced raspberry fruit with a good length. There is something disjointed and unsatisfying about this lightweight port. 81/100.

50% opacity orange brown, cloudy with sediment. Slightly medicinal nose. IN the mouth, a sharpness, acidity, sugary, little backbone, no tannin.
