1985 Harvey
1985 Harvey
Thirty years after harvest we held a small horizontal of 1985s.
Re: 1985 Harvey
Hv85, decanted 7am. Dark-ish red, 60% opaque. Palate of big plum, some Taylor-style grit, good sweetness. My favourite of the page, which was the consensus. Made by Martinez: presumably a good bottle of the Mz85 would have been this good.

Hv85 Best port of the first flight. Beautiful dark purple in colour, rich & vibrant. Good fruits/berries on the nose and taste and a nice smooth medium finish.89 points

Re: 1985 Harvey
Thought this was good. Complex and pleasant. A soft entry, but not too light. Smooth; followed by some good bitterness and a tiny biy of heat. Oranges, I think, predominated.

Bottled under the Harvey's label. Lovely mature red colour, 60% opaque. Little on the nose, some vague stewed red berries. Nice texture on the palate with an enjoyable syrupy thickness. Limited flavours at first, but the mid-palate has some modest sweet redcurrant fruit. The fruit on the aftertaste is delicious, warm and lengthy. An oddly asymmetric port with a great finish but lacking elsewhere. 83/100.

35% orange red. Nose of rich, sweet candy, bubblegum. Smooth in the mouth, very gentle heat, some strawberry. Nice enough port.
