Thursday 08 June 2017 - 6:00pm Boot and Flogger Booked.
The 1967 vintage falls in the shadow of the outstanding vintages that preceded it. Bottles I have tasted recently have held up pretty well. For those of us who are turning 50 in 2017 (and others), this will be an excellent opportunity to re-evaluate the vintage.

With the calendar already pretty full for 2017, I thought I would put a placeholder in for a 67 tasting.
It is still quite a way away so plant of time to find the rarer bottles. Recent tastings (Fg, Tv, Ck, Kr) indicate that the vintage has held up very well.

Yes please.
Edit:
I am confident that there were 1967 declarations from: Cockburn; Croft Quinta da Roeda; Fonseca Guimaraens; González Byass; Krohn; Martinez; Messias Quinta do Cachão; Offley Boa Vista; Poças; Quinta do Noval; Quinta do Noval Nacional; Robertson Rebello Valente; Royal Oporto; Sandeman; and Taylor Quinta de Vargellas.
There might also be 1967s from Butler Nephew and Rozès.

Hi Tony, good foresight, yes please!
- There is also an Adams '67 VP (actually Quinta das Carvalhas, see
here)
- You've included Dalva - is there a Dalva '67 VP? I'm only aware of the Dalva '67 colheita

Yes, good idea Tony-I think this was one of tastings suggested the other night. In which case I will desist from quaffing my bottle of FG67 (the other one I had was terrific). We probably will need a bit of time as outside of the Ck, Mz and TV, I don't recall seeing too much of the others. However, in saying that perhaps best to try and secure early because as we've found with the '66, prices will soon start going up...

I think there was also Kopke and Pocas. Finding sufficient '67s could be quite a challenge!

That said, someone whose business includes purchasing lots of port just before it reaches the age of 50 in order to sell to the 50th birthday market (never mind stored for himself if that is his birth year) might just have some stored away already...

Yes... I just might have a small arsenal of 67's spirited away in my cellar waiting for a suitable opportunity to taste them.
There are a few on the list I don't have that could be a problem.

Which ones are missing that we should looking out for? I have a Cockburn and a Fonseca G...one of which I need for my parents golden wedding anniversary and the other for the tasting. Either way round is ok.

I'd love to attend. I also really like the 1967 vintage and think this is one which is often overlooked by the port market generally - but that could change when desperate people start to look for 50th birthday presents.
I've got a few shippers: Ck, a solitary GB, Martinez, Noval, one bottle of Roeda, Sandeman or Vargellas.

Cheers, D.

Hi - I need to start planning this and firm up dates by end Jan 17.
I now have most of the 67's on the list bar a few which are proving difficult. I would like to try and make this as complete a horizontal as possible.
At the offline we did talk about holding this in Porto in June if we ever got the cricket match sorted out. I think time and logistics will be against us.
Avoiding San Joao steers this to early June or July.
Any thoughts would be welcome.

After posting my last message - I just noticed that you had a Noval which was proving harder to get than the Nacional,
That might leave just Dalva and Mckenzie (and any others I missed in the list)

I still have either a Ck or Fonseca G available for this tasting. When you are ready, let me know which works best.
In terms of when...all I hope is that it is a UK tasting as it is incredibly unlikely I will be able to be in Porto for the intended celebrations (if there are others unable to get to Porto, I propose we have a simultaneous offline at the Boot and Flogger).

Regarding availability in June/July - In June I should be ok for anything other than Tuesdays or June 1/2 (half-term), any Sao Joao plans aside. In July I should be ok for any date up to the 20th, unsure after that. I have TV67 available if wanted.

Now getting round to arranging this....
We appear to have most of the shippers between us.
I have booked B&F for Thursday 08 June - I have edited the list in order of expressions of interest. Please reconfirm that you can attend.
I will update the list after this.
Cheers

Hi Stefan
I am just updating the page for this - can you let me know if you still want to come to this tasting. Also what 67's do you have to offer ?

Tony - couple of suggestions on your attendee list:
- You have "Axel P + 1" in one place on your list, but no Axel P or AP; If "Yes please +1" from Axel meant AP and his +1 you need both in the list.
- You currently have 16 people listed as attending; not sure if you're intending to limit to 14 per usual practise or not, but if so then suggest you clearly make the last couple as reserves, otherwise people will assume they have a place.

Tony, do you know if you would rather I bring the Cockburn 67 or Fonseca G 67 for this tasting? Let me know if one of them works and I will either bring it on Wednesday or for the 55@55 tasting so it is there at the B&F. Many thanks.

First post updated.
Can those who have not confirmed please do so soon as there are some on the reserve list that need to book flights.
I am a couple of ports "lite" on my target (I am still working on these but if you have any please let me know). I can either
a) Double up on some cases - e.g. library release vs UK bottling
b) I have a small collection of 67 colhietas which I would love to share as a dessert course.
or
c) a+b
Please let me know your thoughts.

My vote is (c). Let us know which vintages you're missing and we can see if we can track them down in anyone's cellar.
I have a confession though. When get myself organised this weekend to take some bottles to the B&F for this tasting, I found that I do not own any Butler Nephew 1967. I have one bottle left of Gonzalez Byass 1967 which I would happily contribute in addition to the Noval 1967.

Much appreciated - By fortune my GB67 may actually be a BN67. I do need to check though.

I think option c) would work well. After a hard nights tasting work the option of a few aged tawnys might go down well.
There are still a couple of months to go and I am still working on a couple of VP's.
