I can't do this Thursday. W/c 18th Is a bit uncertain - the 19th is out, but if one of the other days were chosen I should be OK to make. Could also do Tuesday 2 August.

How about Wednesday 20th? At the Boot & Flogger unless anyone wants to try a new venue such as the Habit on Crutched Friars or The Cooperage in Greenwich (which is Ian Wright's current location).

Count me in for the 20th. Julian and I did a recce to The Habit - was OK but not as good as the B&F in my opinion. Suspect Greenwich is a bit of a hike in the wrong direction for many of us?

We have three confirmed for Wednesday 20th July - that makes a quorum.

Any requests for a particular theme? Is this an opportunity for us to hold the long awaited "Anything but Vintage III" offline?

Tom had previously given me a reusable generic permission for same.

Believe it or not, I have almost nothing that is not vintage port! I would happily adopt something interesting from another attendee if someone had a spare bottle which fits the theme?

Almost nothing implies that you do have something but that you are not happy with the level of interest that the something might generate.

Should we do this blind or sighted? If we do it sighted you would get a feel for what others are bringing and how that compares to what you could contribute.

After I wrote this I then checked my records - I did have one old Warre LBV which I drank a few months ago, and I drank my last bottle of brown sticky stuff last month, so the latest news is I have exactly nothing

I've got a modest amount of LBV and I'm sure that I could help you out, but is there anything that's not VP that you'd like to try and have always wanted an excuse to go and buy? Croft Pink port for example? Or a bottle of Graham 1882 Ne Oublie? Or something priced somewhere between the two?

There's growing availability of decent colheitas and tawnies these days and it could be an opportunity to get your hands on one of those and confirm that these should be used for cooking or feeding to Phil.

I've taken a look at my stock list and decided that I will bring a bottle of Dow 1962 LBV (bottled 1966). I've been looking for an excuse to open this for some time. If anyone (such as Mike) decides they'd like to adopt rather than buy I can offer a choice from the following:

• Croft 2004 LBV
• Duorum LBV 2007 or 2010
• Fonseca LBV 2001 or 2003
• Fonseca Terra Prima Organic reserve ruby
• Graham Crusted bottled 1985 or 2002 or 2003
• Niepoort Crusted bottled 2011
• Noval LBV 2005
• Quinta da Pedra Alta LBV 2005
• Quarles Harris LBV 2008
• Smith Woodhouse LBV 1982
• Taylor LBV 2010 (½)

The bottles in bold and large are easily on hand but if anyone has a compelling reason to want to try any of the others listed above then I will endeavour to make the trip to my offsite storage to get hold of the requested bottle. Terms would be my usual - swap a bottle for a bottle.

Interesting to note I own no brown sticky stuff (also known as cooking port).

Happy with the 'Anything but vintage' theme and have some brown sticky stuff, a bit of crusted and one or two LBVs that could be deployed.

I have a Warre 62 LBV that is becoming a bit sticky and so I think I'll bring that (will replace if it looks to have 'failed').

I guess it is for me to bring the sticky stuff.
I have a bottle of 1934 Dalva tawny - it is a 1970's Bottling. I am curious to learn how older bottlings vary over time. I will bring a reserve bottle of something else bottled more recently - just in case!

Let me guess... - dumpy bottle with a splayed mouth, paper thin red wax capsule, splitting and peeling away, covering a tapered cork..

I like the look of those bottles, though sadly don't own any. The last I tasted was courtesy of Wolfgang, I think (perhaps) in 2012. Unfortunately I am not in a position to be able to join you next week, much as I wish I could. Have an excellent evening.

Absolutely.

I can print the placemats on Monday, but if there are any changes after Monday pm which need to be reflected in the placemats someone else will need to print the revised version.

I have a guest for Weds if that's ok? It's Alun (AJH-lefty), who's attended before. Will advise what he's bringing as soon as I can but likely to be a colheita.

Charles, likely to be a bit musty if my experience of other such bottles is anything to go by and so suggest opening a few hours beforehand to give time for the mustiness to blow away.

Oh and incidentally, my W62 LBV was bottled in 66.

I can confirm that Alun is bringing a 1978 Barros Colheita (bottled in 2011 I believe).
