It's never too hot for port - though I do admit to drinking more white/tawny than vintage during the heat.
However, I currently expect that I am unlikely to be able to join you during Jul/Aug(/Sep).

Made from wine lees (left-over skins and bits after first fermentation). Reportedly lower alcohol because distilled only once. Also “The secret is to have a second glass, because the first scrapes the throat.” Nose of rotten sirloin steak. Palate had heat, but mid-palate rather than early-palate, and dark plums.
Everybody’s favourite: total of 9 points, for overall first place.
Most of this bottle was saved and brought to the UK. It can make an appearance at one of our tastings.

Shall bring a bottle from my second most recent purchase. Significant for someone present, but for who or why will be for others to guess, so my bottle will be foil wrapped..
(most recent purchase was a 1921 colheita, which baffled a Scottish auctioneer, and was knocked down to me for a princely £25.. )

Charles: I’ll remind him of the life-coach homilies once you’ve decanted. Post when it is done.

This is not going to help me avoid the homilies but I have a sneaking suspicion that the thing I nearly forgot and couldn't quite remember but have now nearly remembered involves the Scottish Malt Whisky Society.
It is all becoming clear.
Charles - decant the bottle.
