Mature red appearance, 90% opaque and a browning rim. Burnt rubber on the nose, a little unpleasant. Rubbery flavours on impact, hot and with burnt match flavours. Hot aftertaste and a burnt match finish that lingers for some time. Sadly this is a spoiled bottle. Served blind this was guessed to be Cockburn 1983. 78/100. Decanted 5½ hours.
Top Ports in 2022: Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port. I cried with joy.
2023: Fonseca 1966. There are not many better Ports, except a good bottle of Fonseca 1927. Wow!
