Good on yer.
My self imposed illness (See Big Detox) ends on the 19th. You enjoy the Purple Sunshine for both of us, in the meantime.

Snagged a bottle of 20 YO Graham Tawny for 19 Euro yesterday, so had to try it last night. Sublime. What a way to celebrate the 10th of January. What a special day. I don't honestly know why I drink anything else but Port. I really don't. Tasting note hasn't been posted yet, but working on it.

What a marvelous term for port. Is it new or old (the term, that is—of course purple port is new)?

Stone the crows!

- am I seeing things?

- at the end of a long week of slip-ups from jdaw he even manages to be complimentary about a Conky post

What is wrong?

Have you made a New Year Resolution to be a completely different person?
No. Or at least, not that I recall.

Thank god. Consistency is a good thing.

Jdaw1,
In answer to your question, I invented Purple Sunshine as a phrase that could go on the FTLOP T-Shirts. It wasn't chosen, so it's free to be used by anyone.
I googled it and couldn't see any similar references. Whether its this phrase or a similar one, I think you need a happy, catchy phrase that attracts attention from non-port drinkers. Sometimes, people too close to Port cant see that and get insular, over technical, or clever.

I have slipped it onto the front page, and sent a PM to the creator’s assistant asking for approval. Look soon: it will probably be deleted.

I think your on to something, and the understated way you did it looks good. But I suppose I would say that because I like the phrase.
We'll see what the others think.
Just a thought, but what about 'In search of Purple Sunshine', in exactly the same way you've done it. Happy with your one though.

we know where the purple sunshine is—mostly in our cellars

Well, we know where the purple sunshine is—mostly in our cellars. So we’re not really in search of it. I wanted the word drinking, to help the uncertain visitor. And the “on† implies that we talk about it.
But ultimately it will come down to a vote. One many, one vote, except admin who has a billion votes.

I think it needs to be in a different colour. I can hardly see it on my LCD screen.
I'm not too sure that the current phrase does it. Perhaps we should split this off into Site Stuff and ask everyone to throw in straplines which include the words 'Purple Sunshine'?

It looked dreadful and I have removed it. I thought the wording and the colour were both wrong. It also added extra length to the page.
Sorry to be a spoilsport but that was just wrong.

Only those who call themselves Spoilsports.
That's usually an indication they have spoiled the sport...which isn't playing nice.

Changing the way the site looks without consultation is not playing nice. I put it back the way that it was. We can discuss this properly before decisions are made.
I try to administer this site as fairly as possible and don't go making changes on whims. I would like the other administrators to adhere to this policy as well.

Sorry, didn't know that was the policy, but now I do I will, of course, comply.

Consider it an administration policy now - don't muck about with the site.

There you go. Wise words and absolutely correct.
A little different from saying that you took it off, it's just plain wrong and sorry for being a spoilsport. That
didn't suggest you were open to consultation. Your recent Post is of course, Spot on. (And it has a chip at Jules, which is never a bad thing
