How does Weds 12 October sound for a get-together at the usual venue? Any takers? Was thinking of a theme along the lines of Seventy or Seventy Seven.

I'm up for this. Would prefer 1970 to 1977 on the grounds that I have more variety of the former and that there is more strength in depth across the vintage. However, I'll go with the consensus.

I think my theme title has caused confusion. I meant that the theme permits bringing a '70 or a '77.

Hi
Would you mind if I went way off-piste on this?
I have just acquired 6 bottles of 1933 ?????? vintage port , the glass is to dark to read the cork so there is only one decent thing to do to identify this (open in good company!). There are only a few shippers for this year.
I can bring a 70/77 as back up.

As I'm travelling on Tuesday and Wednesday and only back into London in time for our tasting, I plan to drop my bottles off at the B&F today and will see if the good people on duty on Wednesday can undertake the decanting on my behalf at a suitable time.

Thanks Charles, I should be OK with that though. Will stop off via the office from Euston to get rid of my bag and can print then. Should get to B&F for 6-ish.

Bottles deposited at the B&F this afternoon. Just need to send through instructions on Wednesday morning about which bottles to decant

Thanks Julian, I think we should be OK. We have some placemats already drafted (see first post), I can adapt as necessary with any changes.

Marvellous, good to have Alun along again. Will he cope without any brown sticky stuff?? Although technically I have not said "vintage" port, so he's free to bring along a colheita!

Absolutely. Lots of photographs please. This is particularly important just in case JDAW is dreaming that he will be able to attend.

Folks, I am running late getting back into London. If anyone catches this and can print placemats then please do. Let me know via a post here if you can. As it stands I should be at the B&F for about 7. If I need to call into the office to print placemats, it'll be about 7.15.
