Film - World Trade Center

Watched the World Trade Centre with Nicholas Cage, last night. I was expecting a syrupy 'americanised' film which would turn me off.

I was remarkably surprised. The first half an hour, were the Cops are on an ordinary day, and then extraordinary things happen, was as spot on as I could imagine. The pettyness, the humdrum, things getting in the way, minor scheming, shock, fear, ill thought out bravery, lack of planning and equipment, hit home hard.
I'm quite cynical, and yet I was drawn into the film by it's realism. Like any good film, I had to work all this out later because I was completely absorbed watching it. The only thing I kept thinking, was, this is so true, yet will viewers who haven't worked in that enviroment know it?
The film then concentrates on two trapped men, and was worth a watch, but lost the excitement and dynamism of the start. In the end, I considered it worth a watch overall (and I'm a tough critic), but that first half hour was simply outstanding.

Alan,

i agree, i think this movie hits home more with you and I becuase of the profession we are in. We can relate to the incidents prior to and then during the disaster and how they relate to each other. i really don't think most people could relate to this movie on that level unless they have been in a simmilar situation.

I finally got around to watching this on Sky.

I now retract my statement above that implied I would see the good in it that our highly trained Bobbies did. I didn't. It was rubbish

So I was right. It flew over the head of those that don't know.

Have you noticed how much Drama is about Police/Crime Investigations or Hospital/Doctors.
You never get quality films about Firework Producers, Accountants, Computer Teachers, or whatever Derek does...

That's because the Great British viewing public need things that are easy to understand.

I would tell you what I do if you asked, but it's probably best if you don't.
