1977 Taylor (Magnum)
An oversize crowd—possible because the bottles were all Magnums and Tappit Hens—gathered on Wednesday 1st February 2017 at the Boot and Flogger, to taste these large-format 1977s.

30% opacity, warm red, very clear. Caramels on the nose. Clean ,smooth entry. Fruit and caramels, lovely balance, very mild heat in the finish. Lip licking sweetness. Great structure.

Deep rose red colour, 70% opaque. Powerful on the nose with some heat on the edge around the sweet fruit. Fragrant and deleicate entry with some subtle overtones. The heat continues to show on the palate and the wine develops a lot of power and presence. A big and chewy mouthful which delivers a great fragrance. Huge aftertaste with lots of fruit almost masking the tannins. Great port. 94/100. Decanted 2½ hours.
