Deep red colour, very slightly cloudy so the opacity was difficult to judge. Little showed on the nose but the port had a nice balance on entry with dry fruit that managed to be both flavoursome and floral. The lovely floral tones show well on the late palate and combine with delicious young red fruit salad. Rather lively aftertaste with black wine gums before a licorice root finish. Overall this port has a very fine late palate and a great finish but is disappointing on the nose. 88/100.

D85. Red-purple, 50% opaque. Nose of black Maynard’s wine gums. Palate sweet and rich, with Bassett’s black jelly babies.

Typing this some 2⅓ years after the event, I like the TN. No idea how nonsensically pretentious — other to judge — but I like.
