Cr63,decanted 12:30. Red-brown. 50% opaque. Smoky nose. Palate had sweetness, but also woodiness. Slightly acrid. Improved, but not wholly fixed, with extra glass time.

Rich deep red with a rose rim; mature in appearance - 50% opaque. Delicious nose of sweetened redcurrant. Lovely texture on entry, slightly thickened and full of intense flavours of mature fruit; lots of secondary flavours. The mid- late-palate blooms in the mouth, showing lots of fruit backed by gentle acidity and toasted tannins. The aftertaste is full of the mature fruit and leads to a wonderful and tasty finish, that is just full of fabulous mature fruit flavours. Great port. Served blind, this was guessed to be Fonseca 1970. 94/100.
