What Day would be Best for a Offline ?
Edited by admin jdaw1 to add days of the week to the poll answers.

I can easily do either (but not both) of the 30th or 31st. The Wednesday is probably a slight preference, but by no means a strong preference.
And if no-one else has the stamina for an offline during the week then I'm sure I could rustle up a few other people who are not on TPF to join in - we just need to agree a target date!

I’ve edited the poll to add days of the week to the answers — to reduce the probability of confusion.
And then voted for Wednesday 30 January 2008, though I might not be able to arrive until 7pm or so. Though I really won’t need another offline. If I am to bring a bottle, I will need to know what by Thursday 24 January. Theme?

Tsunami should suggest the theme since he is travelling to London and is organising the offline.
But, if I may offer a humbe suggestion, I would suggest that we keep this as an extremely informal offline and make it "Bring (or buy) a bottle of port" for the purpose of the offline is to meet and greet Tsunami and his significant other and to introduce him to some of the wierd and wonderful crowd of port-heads who inhabit the UK.
I would probably bring a 1983 Warre or the 1985 Delaforce or the 1994 Skeffington - all of which I believe represent exceptional value for money at the moment.

I could bring any of (with
bold for the implied theme):
- Skeffington (Paxton & Whitfield BOB) 1991;
- Delaforce 1970;
- Calem 1985 (terrible: if 1985 is the theme I’ll bring it as a random extra);
- Churchill’s 1985;
- Feist 1985 (untasted by me);
- Graham’s 1985;
- Martinez 1985 (untasted by me);
- Ramos Pinto 1985;
- Smith Woodhouse 1985;
- Souza 1985 (untasted by me).
Reminder:

Failing a definitive answer by Thursday 24 January, my bottles will default to Calem 1985 and Feist 1985.

thanks admin for adding the days!
theme: Blind-taste and knowing-enjoy

VP from 94' 85' 77' or 70'
What do you mean by “blind†?

What do you mean by “blind†? That nobody says what they’re bringing? Whoops—I already have. Or that people may optionally say what they’re bringing?

We can always do a semi-blind tasting - just wrap your bottle in foil before serving.

Message from father (cancelling the following evening’s port) causes a slight change of plan. I shall ignore Tsunami’s official theme and bring one of the bottles mentioned in the thread entitled
Decanting time?.

I voted 31/1 as it is the only one I could make.
I think blind and informal would be best for this one.

I have a slight problem now in that I have an architect coming to visit the house (to help design - amongst other things - my wine cellar!) on either the Wednesday or the Thursday. I won't know which until early next week.
However, I am still committed to meet up on one of the two nights - I just don't know which yet!

Ahhh. I need to know whether to draw my mystery bottle from my father’s cellar. And I need to know by 1pm Friday. If the tasting is Wednesday, I’m in. If any other day, I’m out. Please could somebody text +44 7768 95 0123 the score on Friday morning, as I won’t necessarily have internet access. Thank you.

Hey tsunami, it's been a while!
You are long overdue for a North American offline. Ottawa is lovely in the summer, BTW, Toronto and Montreal can be nice too....
