A distressed bottle that despite the base of neck fill had a soaked sello and a cork which was 1/4" above the level of the glass.
A deep gold colour, 10% opaque. Clean nose with praline and eucalyptus; on the palate this is entirely tawny. Nicely balanced with clean acidity the palate is slightly bitter with burnt sugar and walnuts. Slightly thick texture with the acidity really showing on the moderately hot aftertaste. A good long length with bitter Seville orange flavours dominating. Amazingly, given the colour, this is just like drinking a mid-tier 20 year old tawny. Pleasantly enjoyable. If scored, it would be 85, but it would not be fair to score this particular bottle since it is so unrepresentative. 27-May-17.
