2004 Graham Malvedos
Posted: 21:04 Sun 29 Oct 2017
A bottle purchased from the Lodge shop and drunk with lunch at Vinum following a tour of the new Graham's Lodge visitor's centre. Deep red in colour, opaque at the centre and wth a narrow rim. Gently perfumed on the nose with lot of lavender and purple plums. A little aggressive and acidic on entry but the mid-palate shows dried fig and plums sweetened with gentle brown sugar - and big tannins which combine to give a very chewy port! The chewiness continues onto the aftertaste, which is dominated by the ripe tannins and purple / lavender fruit. This needs 5-10 years in the cellar to smooth out the rough edges. 84/100. 20-Jun-17. Decanted 1 hour.
