Re: 1980 Calem Foz
Lightly toned pale rose red, 30% opaque. Soap and cranberry nose, quite pronounced and developed. A lovely cranberry entry, fiercely acidic with dusty tannins under the sour and under-ripe fruit. Big flavours and lots of acidity with ghosts of the soapy flavours at the end of the palate. A big soap and cranberry finish of decent length although not as long as most other vintages tasted at this vertical. Sour and tart, but with such an acidic core that this will last for many decades. 82/100. 13½ hour double decant.
