In honour of the forthcoming nuptials of Prince Henry of Wales KCVO and Miss Rachel Meghan Markle, we gathered on Tuesday 15th May 2018 to drink ‘Port Fit for a (New) Duchess’, the theme being an echo of Port Fit for a Queen enjoyed on the occasion of Her Majesty’s reign exceeding that of Victoria.

Did we discover what shipper this was from the cork? My notes only seem to say it was branded Coronation Port.

Cork and blue wax seal branded Harvey's 1911 Coronation Port. Low fill. Dark amber with green / orange rim; 20% opaque. Oxidised nose, pronounced, possibly with weevil taint. The oxidation shows on the palate with an unpleasant bitterness. The texture of the wine is lovely, rich and full, but the flavours are unpleasant. The aftertaste is a complete contrast, pleasant and persistent with the bitterness turning to a citrus tone, thick and coating the mouth with flavour. Despite the aftertaste, this is a spoiled bottle. Not Rated.
