The time convenient to us that is closest to the two hundredth anniversary of that would be the evening of Thursday 23rd May 2019.
And we did.

Deep red colour, 60% opaque. The nose is restrained, showing some sweet and fragrant red fruit. The palate is generous with sweet fruit, hints of dust and some gentle tannins but with a slight soapy tone giving a lovely mouthful but oddly unbalanced for this normally glorious Port. Dark coffee with a milk chocolate aftertaste and a big candied cherry finish that is lingering and very fine. This is a big and generous Port but this bottle is not as well balanced as normal - could this be starting to shut down in the way the 1960s did about 10 years ago? 89/100.
