G66, decanted 16:15. Red-pink, 35% opaque. This was strange. at about 5pm I’d tasted from a small glass of sediment-rich residue. That had been fantastic: large red-fruited perfectly soft mature Port. But at table, in my first glass, and in a substitute, it had maraschino cherries, saccharine sweetness, heat, great length, but a lack of loveliness / depth / complexity. They were different Ports. Hmm.

Written from memory the day after the tasting as my notes have been lost. A bottle presumed to have been stored in the UK since release. While very enjoyable, this was more evolved and less concentrated with a lighter texture than the late release bottle, Not disgraced in this line-up by any means, this was one of the tier just below the top of the tasting.
